Earth Day Celebration

April 23 is our Earth Day celebration hosted by UUCJ’s Green Sanctuary Group! We will feature a choir program during the worship service. Afterward, come down to the Social Hall where there will be displays of the many projects our church manages
to maintain our Green Sanctuary accreditation. We will have a “Smart Trailer” outside and tables inside with info, hand-outs and a drawing for a 1 year Family Membership to Tree Hill Nature Center. Come visit us to learn more about our efforts and what you can do to keep our planet healthy!

Come join us for a viewing of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy! After the movie we will engage in discussion around the movie’s themes and how they relate to our UU faith. This event is multigenerational and pizza will be provided.

Spring Egg Hunt

Sunday, April 16th, immediately following service.  We need eggs! Please donate plastic eggs filled with candy and/or small toys (or other prizes).  We will be hiding them during the service for children ages 0-13 to find.  We need ALOT of eggs as we are inviting the children from the apartments next door to join us.

Parents, please bring a basket or other container for your child to hold their treasures.

O’Leno 42

OLENO 42 will be May 3-7. This special event brings the members of our church family together for a relaxing weekend on the banks of the Santa Fe River at ‘Leno State Park.

Singles, couples, families with youngsters of all ages, new and long-time members will enjoy this opportunity to make new friends and strengthen our community.

Registration will be April 9-30th.  The registration fee covers sleeping accommodations in cabins in our personal campsite next to the river, all meals (Friday dinner through Sunday brunch), evening entertainment, workshops and youth activities.  Space is limited and is first come, first served.

Healthy Eating Class Cancelled for April

Due to the many activities taking place in April, the Healthy Eating Class will not take place this month. The next class will be May 21st 12:30 Fletcher room, and we will be discussing (and tasting) healthy desserts. All are welcome.

Join the Leadership Development Committee

The LDC has been working for two years to provide a pool of names to the board for nomination into leadership positions at UUCJ.

We have also created a curriculum of learning experiences and workshops to help cultivate and encourage positive leadership skills for our congregation (UUCJ Journey; Stepping Stones; Building Beloved Community, a series of 4 “steps” through which we can learn about ourselves, our church and how to grow an involved and beloved community).

At the end of this year, several of the members will have fulfilled their two year positions and we are looking for people to join the committee to continue this valuable work.

Please let us know if you interested in finding out more about our process and possibly joining our  team. We also invite anyone curious about our group to come to a meeting and observe exactly what it is we do! Our next meeting is May 16th @ 6:30pm.


O’Leno T-Shirt Contest

This year we are having a t-shirt design contest! So, get your creative thinking caps on and design away. Please send your designs to me, [email protected], We will post the choices in the social hall and have a vote for the winner!  Winner gets a free tshirt.

Deadline for submission is April 15th so that we have two Sundays to vote. Winner will be chosen on April 23rd.

Our Gang Outing for April 2017

Come join us for a fun and educational trip on Wed. April 19 2017 to the Florida Agricultural Museum on Kings Road North, Palm Coast Fl. 32137. It is near St. Augustine and just a little over a one hour drive from Jax. You can find more information at We will have a guided tour and learn about Florida’s agricultural history and it’s impact on our economy.
