Spring Egg Hunt

Sunday, April 16th, immediately following service.  We need eggs! Please donate plastic eggs filled with candy and/or small toys (or other prizes).  We will be hiding them during the service for children ages 0-13 to find.  We need ALOT of eggs as we are inviting the children from the apartments next door to join us.

Parents, please bring a basket or other container for your child to hold their treasures.

Drop eggs in office or give directly to Jennifer Tucker.

O’Leno 42

OLENO 42 will be May 3-7. This special event brings the members of our church family together for a relaxing weekend on the banks of the Santa Fe River at ‘Leno State Park.

Singles, couples, families with youngsters of all ages, new and long-time members will enjoy this opportunity to make new friends and strengthen our community.

Registration will be April 9-30th.  The registration fee covers sleeping accommodations in cabins in our personal campsite next to the river, all meals (Friday dinner through Sunday brunch), evening entertainment, workshops and youth activities.  Space is limited and is first come, first served.

O’Leno T-Shirt Contest

This year we are having a t-shirt design contest! So, get your creative thinking caps on and design away. Please send your designs to me, [email protected], We will post the choices in the social hall and have a vote for the winner!  Winner gets a free tshirt.
Design should contain the following: O’Leno 42, 42nd Annual Spring Retreat of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville

Deadline for submission is April 15th so that we have two Sundays to vote. Winner will be chosen on April 23rd.

Thanks to Art Shad

The UUCJ Endowment Fund Board thanks Art Shad for his generous donation of $100 to the Fund. He chose to gift the Fund during his company’s annual Appeal Campaign to make a difference in their community. Art, is the son of Lynn Shad, a longtime supporter and member of the Foundation Board.

Roshi Elliston Visit

Roshi Michael Elliston, abbot of the Silent Thunder Order and the Atlanta Soto Zen Center will be visiting us on April 1st and 2nd. At the Sunday service he will talk on the relationship of the Buddhist “Eight Fold Path” and the Universal Unitarian Seven Principles. Please join us for either the Saturday meditation program (beginning 8am in the Social Hall, with a $25 registration fee) or the Sunday Service.

Vespers is Moving!

Our weekly Vespers service will no longer be gathering on Saturday—we will now be offering Vespers on Thursday evenings, at 7 pm, beginning April 13. We look forward to seeing you there!

Walking the Labyrinth

Spring is here!  Join us at the labyrinth for a walking meditation at 10:15. Nurture the seeds planted for the coming year. Open to the to 5 smooth stones of religious liberalism as we spiral to the center before our Sunday Service.
