We sell Equal Exchange products in order to support the small farmers around the world. It’s hard to compete with Nestle and Hershey, so put your dollars to good use during our Guest at Your Table campaign. The Unitarian Universalist Social Committee thanks you!
For 35 years, Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida has helped hundreds of thousands of very different people through a broad range of services. Initially, it may seem that their programs are disconnected lines of support. Yet if you take a broader look, you’ll notice how the outstanding teams supporting all of these programs are simply filling in the gaps for neighbors in need and creating one big beautiful picture of improved lives in the process. Please make your check payable to UUCJ with Lutheran Services on the memo line.
GUEST at YOUR TABLE boxes and envelopes will be collected on Dec.24th, but we accept them at any time. Membership in the UUSC is $40; checks should be written to UUCJ, with UUSC on the memo line.
As we begin our six-week campaign for Guest At Your Table, please help Jennifer with our bookkeeping and make all checks to UUCJ. Add UUSC to the memo line. Do this for any donations to the envelopes, chocolates, or greeting cards. Thanks!
The Mission & Funding Team reports that 151 Financial Commitments have been completed bringing our 2018 total to $238,501.20.
We are optimistic that the 20 or so outstanding Financial Commitments will be made very soon and this can be done by filling out a Financial Commitment Form or contacting Jennifer Riley at the church (904-725-8133).
We are grateful for our church community and the pledges we have received that further the success of the many missions of our church.
Imagine you are a young woman with children, fleeing violence in Central America. You are locked up in a family detention center, but with the help of UUSC and its Refugee partner organization in Texas, you receive legal assistance. When we start “Guest at Your Table” on Nov. 19th, you can read all about it.
The ethnic abuses taking place in Burma are a human tragedy and this is just one of the places where your donation to the UUSC (Unitarian Universalist Service Committee) can help. Read more about it when we start our campaign on Nov. 19th.
Our shared Mission Funding Effort now has a total of 71 financial commitments for 2018 Mission Funding Budget totaling $146,822.32, for an average pledge of $2,068. We have 117 more member and friend households left to turn in their pledge cards. Our goal for pledges for 2018 fiscal year is $325,000.00.
We need your help so we can go into Mission Funding Budget Workshop with solid number to finalize the budget (which will be October 28th, 9am-12pm).
Please bring in your pledges next week, or mail them in if you know you can’t make it.
Please nurture our beloved community by supporting our shared mission!
The Mission Funding Team brainstormed recently to come up with the theme for the Mission Funding Effort which will fund our operating expenses, an expansion of staff hours, and hopefully make a small down payment on our capital needs. Nurturing UU Church of Jacksonville takes resources and our old standby buzz phrase for this is Time – Talent – Treasure.
The time and talent comes from our members as volunteers and UUCJ employees who help the UUCJ Board manage UUCJ’s campus and operations. We are hoping to expand staff hours for some positions and create new part-time positions to support the activities of our shared ministry. The Mission Funding Team thinks these additional resources will enhance our welcoming community, leading to more guests and new members and also improving services to existing members.
The treasure, your financial contributions, will help us care for our spiritual home. Our award winning Church campus needs a renewal. It will provides a home for our Sunday services and religious education programs for children and adults, supports outreach to the Arlington community and Jacksonville in general, and provides an inviting environment for our small group activities, such as the Journey Programs and various support groups. The improvement of these ministries and programs will allow us to reach outward and help the Arlington Community and Jacksonville through such efforts as ICARE and special collection efforts. It also enhances our internal ministry to each other as we progress through our spiritual paths.
