Speaker Bio: Karen Christiansen

Karen’s immediate family includes her husband Ken, two sons and 4 grandchildren. After retiring from 30 years of teaching, Karen attended Meadville Lombard seminary in Chicago. One highlight of that experience was being on the board of the Hyde Park transitional housing project. This was an interfaith effort of neighborhood churches to house homeless families and mentor them for up to two years. Transitions like this take time, but prove life changing. Chocolate Sales for Our Global Partners

Arlington Community Services Update

We’re on Track to Exceed 4000 pounds. Keep it Up! Thanks to everyone making cash donations directly to ACS UUCJ/ACS Teamsters delivered 46 pounds on Monday. Mary Louise Weber, Executive Director, ACS, indicated that they fed 119 folks and helped six families with rent/JEA this month. Thank you for your donations, support, and prayers during these uncertain times.  Current needs are canned soup, canned peas, canned fruit, sweet potatoes, crackers, canned meats and tuna, small peanut butter and jelly for the…

Caring Candles

Long time UUCJ member, Evelyn Sherwood, died at the age of 91 in the morning of November 19 at the Community Hospice McGraw Center for Caring. Cards may be sent to Evelyn’s daughter, Elizabeth Saunders, at 3332 America Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, Florida. 32250. A memorial service will be held at a later date.    Our condolences go out to Elizabeth and all of Evelyn’s family.

Mary Claire Van der Horst is now in the Palm Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Room R108A, 5725 Spring Park Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216.  She would greatly appreciate cards and notes.
