Aaron Krosnick.  We received a message from Wes Krosnick on November 27, 2020 that his father, Aaron, had died 2 days ago from complications due to a fall at his home.  Wes has moved into the family home to care for his mother, Mary Lou.  Aaron was a retired Professor of Violin at Jacksonville University.  In the early 70s he was the concertmaster of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.  He and Mary Lou played during the Sunday services for many years.…

Minister’s Letter

The day after Thanksgiving the holiday lights and other decorations were installed by the management of the complex where Carol and I live. Something deep within me registered a note of delight and joy. Hindu Diwali, Christian Christmas, Jewish Hanukkah, Pagan Solstice, and African American Kwanza all feature light as a symbol of deep-seated virtues and aspirations this time of year. It is as if we are completing our year-long voyage around the sun and pausing for a time in…

Special Collection this Sunday: Arlington Community Services

As has been our tradition at UUCJ, we will be conducting a special collection throughout December for Arlington Community Services.  Our speaker for the service will be Carolyn Halliger volunteer at Arlington Community Services since 2010. She is the board member responsible for community outreach and will present to us the many ways that ACS provides much needed help to our neighbors in need in the Arlington community.  Please give generously.

UUCJ New Normal Team Announcement

The New Normal Team recommended that UUCJ plan for virtual services and meetings continue until May 2021. The prevalence of COVID-19 infections has increased nationally and locally.  UUCJ had planned to resume in-person activities when the test positivity rate decreased to 5% in Northeast Florida counties, but that has not happened. The situation is not expected to improve over the next several months. Many UUCJ groups are meeting virtually, with increased participation. Several UUCJ staff and members can help set up new groups.  Please contact members…
