Weekday Book Club Selections

  • Monday, May 7: The Lion Seeker by Kenneth Bonert, fiction. Takes place in Africa before World War 11, where Issac Heiger, the child of Jewish immigrants, struggles to make it big and discover the secret his mother has hidden for so long.
  • June 4: The Same Sky by Manda Eyre Ward, fiction. A deeply affecting look at the contrast between middle-class U.S. life and the brutal reality of Central American children so desperate they’ll risk everything.

Our next book discussion will be on the non-fiction book, Killers of the Flower Moon, by David Grann, a true crime story. The call # is 976.6004. A recent check at JPL showed only ebook and audio books available, so request a hold ASAP, or borrow or purchase the book.

Women of All Ages

Our women of all Ages group will meet Thursday March 22, at the Regency Square Library at 5:30 in the evening in one of the large meeting rooms.  Please come and share with us how you became a Unitarian and came to be a member of UUCJ.  This will be a great opportunity to get to know some of your fellow members and for us to know you.

Weekday Book Club

The book selection for Monday, April 2, is the novel Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. It is based on the true-life story of wealthy Osage Indians who began dying in large numbers under mysterious circumstances in 1920s Oklahoma. The meeting is at 1:00 PM at Books-a-Million near Regency.

Join Our Gang at the Riverside Arts Market on Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 am, for lunch and shopping. Then walk to Cummer Museum and Gardens, where admission is free on the first Sat. of each month.
