Riddle & Mystery

Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? What is God? Is there a god? What happens after life? Your child in 6th to 12th grade is invited to join us in exploration of life’s big questions. Riddle & Mystery is being held every Sunday from 12:15-1:15pm in the Darwin room. Our first day is September 17th! Please contact Tyler Burley for more information.

Milestones Recognition: September 10th

Every year during Ingathering we like to celebrate milestones in our children’s lives. If your child is starting kindergarten, moving from 5th to 6th grade, 8th to 9th grade, or bridging from 12th grade to adulthood, please contact Tyler Burley so we can lift up and celebrate their journey!

Labor of Love Sign-Up

Sunday, 8/27 after service in the Social Hall

For the past 7 years we have celebrated our Labor Day weekend service (Sept 3rd) by hosting “LABOR OF LOVE SUNDAY”, where instead of a traditional service, the members, friends, and guests of UUCJ will be giving their service to UUCJ in the form of LABOR. This is always followed by a church-wide POTLUCK to celebrate everyone’s hard work!

On Sunday 8/27, there will be tables with assorted sheets to sign up for the following week’s Labor of Love tasks. This will range from very light to heavy work. Please sign up and help beautify UUCJ.

Do you have ten?

The BIG EVENT is on its way. This only happens every few years, so you won’t  want to miss it. Come to church Sunday, August 27th and see what all the hoopla is about. By the way, do you have ten?

Guest Speaker for August 27th: Adah Shair

Born and raised in the Kashmir valley, Adah moved to the United States to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering. During her time in college, she became involved with the Interfaith Center on campus and the UNF chapter of Muslim Students association. Her involvement with the interfaith center led her to the National Better Together campaign initiated by Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), a non-profit organization aimed at building cooperation across lines of difference. Adah became one of the eleven National Better Together Coaches for the year 2014-2015. She currently works with HDR Inc. as a bridge engineer and intends to specialize in the field of sustainable engineering. Despite the technical nature of her work, she remains inseparable from interfaith work and dialogue. Adah currently presides as the chair of Jax Interfaith Young Professional’s council and envisions interfaith cooperation to become the very fabric of Jacksonville.
