Anyone who likes to sing is invited to join our choir for our annual Earth Day program on April 22. Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, March 11 at 12:30 in the chapel. On February 16th we will be having an event for the Children & Youth of UUCJ. We need at least four volunteers from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Duties will include chaperoning children in K-12th grade, playing games, making milkshakes and potentially some light lifting. You enjoy Sunday social hour? – help keep it going. It takes little time, and “newbies” have someone there to help. Sign up in social hall with Karen Scott or Bowen Barrs. If most members signed up, you’d only have to do it once a year!
Caring Network Neighborhood Coordinator – Job Description
The Caring Network is made up of a group of thirteen Neighborhood Coordinators who serve as links between members in zip code clusters and church activities.
The purpose of a Neighborhood Coordinator is to stay in touch with the concerns of the members in their Neighborhood Group, such as illness, death in the family and other difficulties; and keeping personal information confidential.
Duties of a Coordinator
- Arrange visits to members in their home, hospital or care facility
- Arrange rides to medical appointments, church or unexpected trips
- Arrange short-term child care in emergencies
- Arrange for meals in emergencies
- Make phone calls to members and send cards and notes
- Coordinators together with the Caring Network Chair keep the minister informed as to the needs of the congregants.
- Receive names of new church members from the Chair, and update their list of members for each of their zip codes

A couple of volunteers are needed to help tidy up after the Christmas Eve Cookie Communion. Duties would be getting coffee cups into the dishwashers and starting them, emptying and rinsing coffee urns and tidying the kitchen. There is a good degree of clean-up required at the church after Irma hit this last weekend. Please join us Saturday, 9/16/2017 @ 9am to help with the clean-up. There is a lot of yard/tree debris so bring lots of heavy work-gloves, saws (if you have them), rakes, shovels, trucks for hauling (if you have one), rubber boots might be a good idea as well. Some inside work will be required as well. Please come and help make the church building & grounds beautiful again and ready for this Sunday’s service! There will also be a work party after service on Sunday, to help with whatever doesn’t get finished on Saturday.

For the past 7 years we have celebrated our Labor Day weekend service (Sept 3rd) by hosting “LABOR OF LOVE SUNDAY”, where instead of a traditional service, the members, friends, and guests of UUCJ will be giving their service to UUCJ in the form of LABOR. This is always followed by a church-wide POTLUCK to celebrate everyone’s hard work!
On Sunday 8/27, there will be tables with assorted sheets to sign up for the following week’s Labor of Love tasks. This will range from very light to heavy work. Please sign up and help beautify UUCJ.
