There is a good degree of clean-up required at the church after Irma hit this last weekend. Please join us Saturday, 9/16/2017 @ 9am to help with the clean-up. There is a lot of yard/tree debris so bring lots of heavy work-gloves, saws (if you have them), rakes, shovels, trucks for hauling (if you have one), rubber boots might be a good idea as well. Some inside work will be required as well. Please come and help make the church building & grounds beautiful again and ready for this Sunday’s service! There will also be a work party after service on Sunday, to help with whatever doesn’t get finished on Saturday.
Sunday, 8/27 after service in the Social Hall
For the past 7 years we have celebrated our Labor Day weekend service (Sept 3rd) by hosting “LABOR OF LOVE SUNDAY”, where instead of a traditional service, the members, friends, and guests of UUCJ will be giving their service to UUCJ in the form of LABOR. This is always followed by a church-wide POTLUCK to celebrate everyone’s hard work!
On Sunday 8/27, there will be tables with assorted sheets to sign up for the following week’s Labor of Love tasks. This will range from very light to heavy work. Please sign up and help beautify UUCJ.
Chris Lippincott is resigning as Building & Grounds chairman after 7 years of service In that position. The co-chair, Rob McKennon, will become the chairperson and will need a co-chair. This is an opportunity to be of service to our beloved community and be an important part of caring for our building and grounds. Chris will continue to be a volunteer and help as needed.

AHE is requesting volunteers to help out with their field days. There are two days, Wednesday, May 24 and Friday, May 26th.
The LDC has been working for two years to provide a pool of names to the board for nomination into leadership positions at UUCJ.
We have also created a curriculum of learning experiences and workshops to help cultivate and encourage positive leadership skills for our congregation (UUCJ Journey; Stepping Stones; Building Beloved Community, a series of 4 “steps” through which we can learn about ourselves, our church and how to grow an involved and beloved community).
At the end of this year, several of the members will have fulfilled their two year positions and we are looking for people to join the committee to continue this valuable work.
Please let us know if you interested in finding out more about our process and possibly joining our team. We also invite anyone curious about our group to come to a meeting and observe exactly what it is we do! Our next meeting is May 16th @ 6:30pm.
Sun, Feb 29th after service
On Sun, 2/29 immediately following the Sunday Worship service, we will have our annual Sign-up Sunday event. This is your opportunity to check out all the committees and groups that we have available here at UUCJ. This will be a FUN event with lots of fanfare and atmosphere. In this week’s and next week’s Order of Service, you will find a list of the committee’s that will be represented there along with a brief description of what each one does and how they can use your help. Please plan to sign-up and volunteer to help with one or more of these committee’s Remember that UUCJ runs almost solely on volunteer help, and without you, we cannot do all the needed tasks to keep UUCJ a thriving and growing community.
